Killer Weekend: Durango

Get in early and send a Telegraph: Ride the International Mountain Biking Assocation-certified epic Telegraph Trail network. Climb Raider Ridge and the new Medicine trail, then head into the Meadow or climb Telegraph. Check out Sidewinder, Crite’s, Cowboy and Big Canyon.

Book a stand-up paddle board for glassy mountain waters yoga, or an off road jeep tour of high country mining roads to catch autumn colors.

Dirt Cheap: Eat grass fed beef hamburgers with chipotle mayonnaise and sweet potato fries at Grassburger.

Pretty Penny: Surf & Turf at the Ore House.

Day 1: Head to the Durango Farmers Market every Saturday through October, grab a coffee, shop local and get a massage listening to local live music.

Earn your turns: Ride Animas City Mountain and Dalla Mountain Park or the Colorado Trail, or head north for a 6-mile round trip hike or run, and scramble to the summit of Engineer Mountain, just shy of 13,000 feet.

Day 2: Eat fresh at the Durango Diner, where owner Gary Broad cooks up Colorado market meats and serves produce from the San Luis Valley that he transports with his own semi.

Sand and stone: Grab your rack or book a local guide and head to East Animas. Check out classic traditional routes like Apple Cider, and claim the stunning move out of a chimney WAY off the deck. Then, try Enter Sandman (5.10a) to solve the puzzling crux mantle move.

Siesta: Get some artisanal house-made ice cream from Cream Bean Berry.

Dirt Cheap: Serious Texas Bar-B-Q for a Texas taco or pulled pork sandwich with a cherry chipotle salsa.
