To get a fire started quickly and efficiently, a nice pile of tinder is the way to go. If you’re handy with a knife, the you can carve shavings off of sticks.
If you’re not handy, this is how you do it: Use a carrot peeler.
Using a carrot peeler on a stick is about as easy as can be. Look for smooth sticks or snap off branches. The smaller the shavings the better. Make sure to get a nice pile to work with.
You can also use a pencil sharpener to get the same results. By using a twig or stick about the size of a pencil, you can get compile good bit of fire starting tinder quickly and easily.
Both of these items are easy to stash in you camp kit, and with a few other tricks, you can have a fire started in minutes.
